Zag Teams with F1’s Carmen Jorda for New Women’s Motorsports Film
BREAKING: Studio Zag has just announced a groundbreaking partnership with former Formula 1 driver Carmen Jorda to create an animated feature film titled “Car Men,” set in the thrilling world of women’s motorsports. This exciting development aims to shine a spotlight on female empowerment and inspire young girls globally.
The project, spearheaded by Jeremy Zag, co-creator of the successful franchise “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir,” will be more than just a film. It will evolve into a comprehensive franchise that includes scripted content, live experiences, and consumer products. With themes of resilience and ambition, “Car Men” is tailored to captivate Gen Z audiences.
Carmen Jorda, who made history as the 11th woman to be part of an F1 team lineup, brings her personal journey to the forefront of this project. The film will follow her trials and triumphs as she navigates a challenging racing universe, battling doubt, pressure, and heartbreak. The emotional synopsis highlights her quest to reclaim her dreams and discover her true identity.
“This partnership means turning my passion for racing into a story that can inspire millions of young girls around the world,” stated Jorda. “I want them to know they can dream big and take their place on the track—just like I did.”
The project has attracted high-profile producers, including Michael Gracey, known for his work on “The Greatest Showman,” and Tyler Thompson from Cross Creek Pictures, who produced hits like “Black Swan” and “American Made.” Furthermore, Andrea Puig, a former executive at HBO Max and Netflix, has joined as an executive producer, emphasizing the film’s potential for widespread appeal.
“Carmen’s journey boasts a story of resilience and unwavering self-belief,” said Gracey. “Her fearlessness and ambition are the qualities of true heroes.” This sentiment resonates with the film’s mission to inspire a new generation of young women in sports.
In recent years, the representation of women in motorsports has gained momentum, highlighted by Reese Witherspoon’s production of a docuseries on female drivers in the F1 Academy, now available on Netflix. The momentum surrounding women’s racing is growing, making this project even more timely.
Zag is also in the works for a second “Miraculous” movie, which has already seen success, grossing over $40 million globally after its 2023 release. The film streamed on Netflix across various regions, including the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, and performed exceptionally well at European box offices.
This new venture with Carmen Jorda represents a significant step forward for women in sports and entertainment. As the project develops, audiences worldwide will eagerly anticipate how “Car Men” will empower aspiring female athletes and storytellers alike.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project that promises to redefine the narrative around women in motorsports.
