Lady Bulldogs Shine in Postseason Awards Following Final Four Run
The Thomasville Lady Bulldogs celebrated significant postseason recognition after their impressive run to the Final Four, marking their first appearance in this stage since 2013. The highlight of the awards was Harmony Bryant, who received the title of Region Offensive Player of the Year for her outstanding sophomore season.
Bryant’s performance was remarkable, averaging a double-double with 16.7 points and 14.4 rebounds per game. She demonstrated her scoring ability with a field goal percentage of 46 percent and contributed defensively with an average of 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. In addition to leading the team in scoring and rebounds, she also topped the squad in blocks, underscoring her all-around impact on the court.
The accolades did not stop with Bryant. Jayla Brooks and Justyce Cole earned First-Team All-Region honors, reflecting their stellar performances throughout the season. Brooks, building on a strong freshman year, averaged 15.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.9 steals per game while maintaining a field goal percentage of 35 percent and a three-point shooting rate of 24 percent. Her consistent improvement was vital for the team’s success.
Cole, in her freshman season, also made a significant impact. She averaged 13.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists, showcasing her versatility. Defensively, she excelled with an average of 4.4 steals per game, establishing herself as one of the top two-way players in the region.
Further recognition came for A’naijah Thurman, who secured a Second-Team All-Region spot with averages of 6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2.2 steals. Her contributions were crucial in multiple games throughout the season.
Additionally, Ma’Khia Banks was named to the Honorable Mention All-Region team, finishing the season with averages of 2.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game, rounding out a strong showing from the Lady Bulldogs.
The recognition of these players highlights the hard work and dedication of the Thomasville Lady Bulldogs this season, setting a promising foundation for future successes. The team, buoyed by this recognition, looks ahead with optimism as they continue to build on their recent achievements.
