William L. Sheridan, 91, Passes Away; Community Mourns Loss
UPDATE: The community of South Windsor, Connecticut, mourns the passing of William L. Sheridan, who died peacefully at the age of 91 on December 30, 2025. Loved ones and friends remember him as a dedicated family man and a proud veteran.
Born on January 21, 1934, in Hartford, Sheridan served his country in the U.S. Army as a Crew Chief and continued his commitment through the National Guard. His career journey began as an apprentice at Pratt & Whitney, showcasing a lifelong passion for mechanics and aviation.
After his military service, Sheridan explored various roles, from working with the Fuller Brush Company to serving as a mechanic for a racing team at Riverside Park. He notably ran a successful side business distributing frozen pizzas and ovens to local eateries. Eventually, he dedicated over 25 years to the State of Connecticut as a Tax Unit Manager, where he made a significant impact on state tax oversight.
Sheridan was deeply involved in his community, serving as Treasurer for the Manchester Army Navy Club for a decade and supporting the Manchester’s Eighth District Volunteer Fire Department as a Director. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life; he cherished the camaraderie with fellow veterans and enjoyed tending bar at local gatherings.
He was married to his beloved wife, Ann Marie Sheridan, for 42 years until her passing in 2002. Sheridan is survived by two daughters, Mary-Ellen Nelson and Susan Sheridan-McKenna, along with eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He shared a special bond with his family, who affectionately referred to him as “Killer” due to his playful storytelling and love for card games.
Funeral services are set for January 6, 2026, at 11 AM at St. James Church, located at 896 Main St, Manchester, CT. Friends and family are encouraged to attend and honor his remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, reflecting Sheridan’s enduring legacy of support for those in need.
As the community remembers William L. Sheridan, his spirit of adventure, dedication to family, and service to others will be cherished and celebrated by all who knew him.
