Indiana Hoosiers football coach Curt Cignetti has achieved a remarkable milestone by outselling Pope Leo XIV in bobblehead sales. The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame Museum in Milwaukee announced that the Cignetti bobblehead is the best-selling figure produced this year, surpassing all other figures, including that of the Catholic Church leader.

The initial release of the Cignetti bobblehead took place on November 19, 2023, with a limited production run of 2,023 units, each priced at $40. This collectible features Cignetti positioned behind a podium, reminiscent of his press conference during National Signing Day on December 23, 2023. At the press conference, Cignetti famously stated, “It’s pretty simple. I win. Google me,” a phrase that is activated when the button on the bobblehead is pressed.

The bobblehead sold out in under a week, leading to the decision by the museum to produce a second version, which depicts Cignetti in a sullen sideline pose. This new edition was announced on November 26, and the exact quantity will be determined soon.

In a philanthropic gesture, Cignetti is donating all proceeds from the sales of both bobbleheads to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. Phil Sklar, CEO and co-founder of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame Museum, expressed his surprise at the excitement surrounding the Cignetti bobbleheads. “We had a feeling that the Coach Curt Cignetti bobbleheads would be extremely popular given how successful he has been in his two years at the helm of the Indiana football program, but we’ve been blown away by the level of excitement from fans,” he stated.

As the Indiana Hoosiers prepare for the Big Ten Championship game against top-ranked Ohio State on Saturday, their chances of making the College Football Playoff appear promising. The Hoosiers currently hold the No. 2 ranking in the nation, further enhancing the enthusiasm surrounding their football program.

The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame Museum, which opened in 2019, boasts the world’s largest collection of bobbleheads from various genres and periods. It also features exhibits that educate visitors about the history and creation of these popular collectibles.

As Cignetti’s success continues to resonate within the sports community, both his football achievements and commitment to charitable causes exemplify the growing connection between sports figures and their fans.
