Upcoming Community Events

On January 17, the Frog Hollow Nature Center in Friedensburg will host an “Outdoors Night Owl Prowl” from 18:00 to 19:00. Another notable event is the Locust Lake Loop walk, organized by the Schuylkill Conservation District on February 19 at 13:00. The “Landingville Marsh Meander” hike will occur on February 22 at 14:00, where hikers will traverse the John Bartram Trail to view the historic transportation tunnel, built in 1827. This easy two-mile hike is suitable for children, though dogs are not permitted. Attendees should gather in the parking lot across from the Landingville Playground.

Additionally, a special event for children, the “Lorax Led Walk,” will celebrate World Reading Day and Dr. Seuss Day on March 1 at 14:00. This event aims to educate young participants about local trees and their history. The meeting point will be at the Sweet Arrow Lake Waterfall Pavilion Parking Lot, and it welcomes children of all ages along with well-behaved dogs.

Educational Opportunities and Clubs

The Orwigsburg Library will host a discussion of “Diary of a Dying Girl” by Mallory Smith on January 26 at 17:30, as part of its Learning Book Club. For those looking to enhance their business skills, Penn State Schuylkill will offer a complimentary three-part series titled “Everyday AI for Business … Understand It. Use It.
