Beloved Barber Jim Anderson Passes Away at 80, Leaving Legacy

James “Barber Jim” Anderson, a respected barber and cherished community member, passed away on January 7, 2025, at the age of 80. He is remembered as a devoted husband to his wife of 40 years, Suzanne Anderson, and a loving father to his daughter, Jamie, and son, Christopher.

Born in 1945 in Omaha, Nebraska, Jim was the son of Lloyd and Mildred Schneider Anderson. He grew up alongside his siblings, including brother Richard and sisters Delores, Darlene, and Peggy. The family later moved to the San Diego area, where they established their home.

After completing his education at Barber College, Jim became a fixture in the community of Irvine, California. He owned and operated University Park Barbers for an impressive 50 years. Throughout his career, Jim served multiple generations of families, building a loyal customer base that became like family.

Following his retirement, Jim dedicated time to volunteer work at Saddleback Hospital, while also working part-time for a former employee. His contributions to the community extended beyond his professional life. Neighbors fondly remember him as the “Montbury Walker,” often seen taking daily strolls in his neighborhood over the past 39 years. Jim greeted everyone with a smile and offered words of wisdom to those who crossed his path.

Jim Anderson is survived by numerous relatives, including nieces and nephews, as well as many friends made through his barbering career. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, generosity, and remarkable ability to engage in conversation.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2025, from 11:00 to 13:00 at the Anderson residence, located at 21541 Rushford Drive, Lake Forest. Family and friends are invited to honor Jim’s memory through flowers or by planting a living memorial in his name.

Jim Anderson leaves behind a legacy of love and community service, demonstrating a life well lived and deeply cherished.
