Suspect Pleads Not Guilty to Theft of Beyoncé’s Stolen Items
A suspect has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the theft of valuable items belonging to singer Beyoncé during her tour stop in Atlanta. The alleged incident took place in July 2023 when her choreographer, Christopher Grant, and dancer Diandre Blue parked their rental vehicle at Krog Street Market. Upon returning after approximately an hour, they discovered that their trunk window had been damaged and two suitcases were missing.
The stolen items included crucial materials for the tour, such as setlists, footage plans, and hard drives containing Beyoncé‘s unreleased music. According to the police report, Grant noted that he was also carrying sensitive personal information for the artist. “Mr. Grant advised he was also carrying some personal sensitive information for the musician Beyoncé,” the report stated. Additional stolen items included clothing, designer sunglasses, laptops, and a pair of AirPods Max headphones.
Kelvin Evans, aged 30, was identified as a suspect in September 2023 after being arrested for an unrelated parole violation. Authorities connected him to the theft through digital tracking from the stolen devices. The stolen items were recovered while he was incarcerated.
After posting a bond of $20,000 in October 2023, Evans was released from Fulton County Jail. He appeared virtually in court on January 7, 2024, where he officially pleaded not guilty to charges of entering an automobile with intent to commit theft and criminal trespass.
Evans is scheduled for a case management hearing on February 11, 2024. As the case unfolds, the entertainment world remains keenly interested in the implications of this incident for Beyoncé and her ongoing tour. The theft highlights the vulnerabilities that artists can face even while on stage, underscoring the importance of security measures in the entertainment industry.
