Noah Schnapp, known for his role as Will Byers in the popular series Stranger Things, recently revealed that he has been mistaken for Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe multiple times. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Schnapp shared that this mix-up has occurred at least three times in 2023, highlighting the amusing confusion between the two iconic franchises.

While promoting the final season of Stranger Things, Schnapp recounted how fans often approach him with comments about their love for the Harry Potter series. He noted, “When I’m alone, I’ve been getting Harry Potter the past few years. It happened three times last year, which has never happened to me before.” This frequency of mistaken identity has taken him by surprise, providing a light-hearted moment during his promotional activities.

Schnapp explained that the confusion typically arises when he is not with his co-stars. Fans often mistake him for Radcliffe, expressing their admiration for Harry Potter. He humorously responds, “Oh, wrong franchise.” This interaction reflects a broader connection between the two characters, as both have experienced extraordinary journeys in their respective stories. Schnapp drew parallels by saying, “Yes, there’s a little ‘The Boy Who Lived’ and ‘Zombie Boy’ kind of parallels.”

In addition to discussing the mix-ups, Schnapp revealed his evolving role within the series. He recently took on directing responsibilities for a scene featuring a young Will, a move encouraged by the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that they were “very willing” to let him explore this new creative avenue.

The first part of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, known as Vol. 1, premiered on Netflix on November 26, 2023. This season will conclude with Vol. 2, which includes three episodes scheduled for release on Christmas. The series finale, a two-hour special, is set to air on New Year’s Eve.

As fans eagerly await the concluding chapters of the series, Schnapp’s anecdotes about mistaken identity offer a glimpse into the lighter side of fame, as well as the enduring impact of both Stranger Things and the Harry Potter franchise on popular culture.
