Schuman Cheese has announced a strategic partnership with Wyke Farms, the largest independent cheese producer in the United Kingdom. Effective January 8, 2026, this collaboration positions Schuman as the exclusive supplier for Wyke Farms and its Ivy’s Reserve brand, significantly enhancing its portfolio of imported and specialty cheeses in the United States.

The partnership allows Schuman Cheese to steward nearly 300 years of British cheesemaking heritage, focusing on traditional British cheddars and butter. This move aligns with Schuman’s commitment to expanding its premium offerings and reinforces its leadership in the specialty cheese market.

Enhancing Heritage and Quality

According to Ian Schuman, the Executive Vice President of International Business Development at Schuman Cheese, “Wyke and Ivy’s Reserve bring exceptional quality, provenance, and sustainability credentials to our portfolio.” He emphasized that the partnership offers a distinct British cheddar profile, enhancing choice for both retailers and consumers.

Wyke Farms, renowned for its premium heritage range, Ivy’s Reserve, draws from the original farmhouse recipes of Ivy Clothier. Cheddars from this range are aged in Somerset, resulting in a creamier texture and layered flavor complexity. The brand’s farmhouse butter is produced using traditionally aged cream, ensuring a smooth texture that is ideal for entertaining and everyday use.

Commitment to Sustainability

Richard Clothier MBE, Managing Director of Wyke Farms, expressed pride in the brand’s heritage and sustainability initiatives. He remarked, “Partnering with Schuman Cheese, whose values so closely align with our own, allows us to share the unique character and heritage of Somerset farmhouse cheddar with a new audience.” Wyke Farms has made significant strides in sustainability, implementing a “100% Green” strategy that includes renewable energy production from its farms and aims for carbon-neutral dairy operations.

Founded in Somerset, England, Wyke Farms has a rich history dating back to 1861. The company produces over 18,000 tonnes of cheddar annually, which is exported to 167 countries worldwide. Despite its global reach, Wyke Farms remains a family-run business, adhering to the quality standards established by Ivy Clothier over a century ago.

Schuman Cheese, established in New York in 1945, has built a reputation as a leading importer and distributor of specialty cheeses in North America. Its focus on integrity and excellence has led to lasting partnerships and a robust portfolio that includes international cheese brands. The partnership with Wyke Farms marks a pivotal expansion in Schuman’s curated specialty offerings, reinforcing its role as a steward of globally respected brands.
