Boulder Celebrates Pearl Street Mall’s 50th Anniversary with New Logo
The Downtown Boulder Partnership has introduced a new logo to commemorate the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Pearl Street Mall. This iconic pedestrian mall, which officially opened on August 6, 1977, has transformed into one of Colorado’s most cherished community gathering spaces, symbolizing the creativity and vitality of Boulder.
The announcement, made via a press release, describes the logo as a tribute to the businesses that have contributed to the mall’s character over the past five decades. It features design elements inspired by several long-standing establishments along Pearl Street, showcasing the unique identity of the area.
Bettina Swigger, CEO of the Downtown Boulder Partnership, emphasized the significance of the mall in the community’s social fabric. “The Pearl Street Mall has been Boulder’s living room since August 6, 1977,” she stated. “The thoughtful design of this logo celebrates our past while setting the stage for a future of continued creativity and connection between people, businesses, and shared spaces.”
In addition, Terri Takata-Smith, vice president of marketing for the Downtown Boulder Partnership, referred to the logo as a “love letter to the entrepreneurs, dreamers, and community members who make Pearl Street such a vibrant place.” This sentiment reflects the mall’s role as a hub of innovation and community engagement.
The 50th anniversary celebrations are set to take place in 2027, with a series of events planned to honor this milestone. Details of the upcoming festivities will be shared on the official website 50YearsOnPearl.com and via the Downtown Boulder Partnership’s social media channels.
As the anniversary approaches, the logo serves as a reminder of the rich history and the enduring spirit of the Pearl Street Mall, a place that continues to foster connections among residents and visitors alike. The initiative not only marks a significant milestone for the mall but also reinforces its status as a central feature of Boulder’s cultural landscape.
