Sacramento Kings’ Keegan Murray Out 3-4 Weeks with Ankle Sprain
URGENT UPDATE: Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray will be sidelined for at least three to four weeks due to a left ankle sprain, the team confirmed earlier today. Murray sustained the injury during a game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday night, landing awkwardly after a drive with just 4:01 left in the third quarter. He immediately clutched his ankle in pain and required assistance to exit the court.
This latest setback adds to a tumultuous season for the Kings, who currently hold a dismal record of 8-28 and are on a five-game losing streak, with each defeat by double digits. These struggles have left them with the worst point differential in the NBA at -12.
Murray, who has been a key player for Sacramento, previously missed the first 15 games of the season due to a torn UCL in his left thumb. This ankle sprain could further extend his absence, potentially sidelining him for the remainder of January. The Kings secured Murray’s future with a significant $140 million contract extension in October, tying him to the franchise through the 2030-31 season.
In just 19 games this season, Murray averaged 14.6 points and 6.1 rebounds, standing fifth in the league with an impressive 35.9 minutes per game. His durability had been a hallmark of his first three seasons, in which he appeared in 231 out of a possible 246 games.
As the Kings navigate this challenging period, fans and analysts alike will be closely monitoring how this injury impacts their performance and what adjustments will be made in Murray’s absence. The team seeks to rebound from its current struggles, and every game counts as they look to turn their season around.
Stay tuned for further updates on Murray’s recovery and the Kings’ ongoing season.
