Arizona, Gonzaga, and Michigan State Emerging as Top NCAA Bets
UPDATE: As of January 1, 2026, the race for the NCAA Championship is heating up, with three teams emerging as top contenders for bettors: the Arizona Wildcats, Gonzaga Bulldogs, and Michigan State Spartans. With conference play underway, now is the critical time for fans and bettors to consider their options as these teams position themselves for March Madness.
The Wildcats currently have odds of +850 to win the 2026 NCAA Championship, making them a strong favorite. Arizona’s performance has been exceptional, showcasing elite shooting skills and efficiency. Only 22.4% of their points come from three-pointers, yet they dominate inside with a remarkable 57.9% shooting rate on 2-pointers. Additionally, they rank third in the nation for offensive rebound percentage, making them a formidable opponent.
Defensively, Arizona is a nightmare for rivals, sitting fourth in adjusted defensive efficiency. Their size and athleticism allow them to force turnovers and minimize second-chance points. As they continue to excel in the Big 12, expect their odds to decrease further, especially if they secure a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs, with odds of +1500, are another team to watch closely. Under the leadership of Mark Few, Gonzaga boasts perhaps the deepest roster in college basketball, with nine players averaging at least 17 minutes per game. They are shooting 52.4% from the field, including a solid 36.9% from beyond the arc, making them versatile and hard to defend.
Gonzaga’s defensive statistics are equally impressive, ranking 10th in defensive rebound rate. Their experience—marked by eight upperclassmen—could be the key to finally clinching a national title this season. With significant depth and talent, the Bulldogs are ready to tackle the rigors of March.
Meanwhile, the Michigan State Spartans are also in the mix, currently at +2000 to win it all. Guided by legendary coach Tom Izzo, the Spartans are known for their defensive prowess, boasting the second-lowest offensive rebound rate. Their ability to block shots and limit three-point shooting (opponents at just 30.8%) makes them a tough adversary.
Offensively, Michigan State has improved significantly, now hitting 36.3% from three-point range after a dismal performance last season. Competing in a competitive Big Ten Conference, the Spartans are battle-tested and ready for the challenges of March Madness.
As we move deeper into January, the performance of these teams will be pivotal for bettors and fans alike. Keep an eye on their progress as they strive for the ultimate prize in college basketball. Will Arizona solidify their status as a favorite? Can Gonzaga finally break through? Will Michigan State reclaim their glory? The answers await as the season unfolds.
Stay tuned for real-time updates as these teams navigate through the conference play and head towards the NCAA Tournament!
