Paramount Theatre to Host 70s-Themed Gala with Lukas Nelson

The historic Paramount Theatre in Austin is set to celebrate its 111th Anniversary Gala on May 9, 2024, featuring acclaimed musician Lukas Nelson. The event will embrace a “Road Trip Romance” theme reminiscent of the vibrant 1970s, inviting attendees to don vintage-inspired attire.

Guests will kick off the evening with a half-hour of snacks and cocktails exclusively for premium ticket holders. Following this, the festivities will continue with another hour of refreshments accompanied by live music from Austin-based band Madam Radar. The main event will showcase Lukas Nelson, son of country legend Willie Nelson, known for his impressive contributions to the genre.

After the performance, attendees will enjoy a late dinner from 21:00 to 23:00, featuring a diner-inspired menu crafted by Chef Michael Fojtasek of Olamaie, who serves as the culinary chair for the Paramount. Chef Fojtasek will be joined by various unnamed “friends” from local restaurants to create a memorable dining experience.

The evening will not only include entertainment but also a chance for guests to participate in a silent auction, with proceeds benefiting both the Paramount Theatre and its sister venue, the State Theatre. Items up for bid will include unique experiences, celebrations, and artisanal goods. As the night unfolds, the Love & Happiness Band will play covers, providing a lively backdrop for dancing.

To assist guests in their outfit choices, the Paramount has created a Pinterest vision board showcasing essential 70s fashion elements, such as fringed dusters, bell bottoms, and denim. The gala promises to be a nostalgic celebration of freedom and adventure.

In addition to this gala, both the Paramount and State Theatres are undergoing renovations, with plans announced in November. The Paramount will receive subtle updates aimed at preservation, while the State Theatre will undergo a significant overhaul that maintains its iconic facade while reimagining the interior. Both venues will close temporarily for these improvements, ensuring their legacy continues for future generations.
