Two Charged After Pepper Spray Incident at Heathrow Airport
Two men, Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, face serious charges following an incident involving a noxious substance at Heathrow Airport that affected over 20 people. Both men have been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of administering a noxious substance. They are scheduled to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates Court on March 12, 2024.
The incident occurred on March 10, 2024, in a multi-storey car park at Terminal 3. According to authorities, two women were robbed of their suitcases shortly after exiting the lift. The assailants reportedly used a spray believed to be pepper spray, which subsequently impacted several bystanders in the vicinity. Emergency services attended the scene, treating a total of 21 individuals affected by the spray, including a three-year-old child.
Among those treated, five people were transported to local hospitals for further evaluation. Fortunately, all have since been discharged. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with many individuals coughing and struggling to breathe after the spray was released.
Police have emphasized the seriousness of the incident, underscoring the dangers associated with the use of noxious substances in public spaces. The Metropolitan Police are conducting a thorough investigation to ensure that all those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.
Authorities urge anyone with additional information regarding the incident to contact them as the investigation continues. The swift response from emergency services has been praised, highlighting the importance of preparedness in dealing with such unpredictable situations.
