Caregivers Unite for Charity Cover of ‘Angels’ at Abbey Road
In an inspiring initiative, Visiting Angels has collaborated with caregivers from various organizations across the United Kingdom to release a charity cover of Robbie Williams’ iconic 1990s ballad “Angels.” This project, performed by the HomeCare’s Got Talent Choir, aims to create a unifying anthem for caregivers worldwide, showcasing their dedication and compassion.
The recording took place at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, a site synonymous with music history and home to renowned artists such as The Beatles and Pink Floyd. The choir consists of nine caregivers representing Visiting Angels and other care organizations, including Caremark, Home Instead, Voyage Care, Mochridhe, Vitality Care, and Calon Lan Community Care.
From Talent Show to Charity Single
Dan Archer, CEO of Visiting Angels UK and founder of HomeCare’s Got Talent, explained that the idea for this charity single emerged from this year’s talent competition finale. Archer emphasized the importance of highlighting the everyday commitment of caregivers through a holiday hit. The collaboration features musical contributions from notable artists, including Kuill, a musician from the television show The Voice, and Jay Aston of the pop group Bucks Fizz.
The choir aims to surpass the original song’s performance on the U.S. charts, with hopes of achieving the coveted No. 1 spot during the festive season. The charity version of “Angels” was released on major streaming platforms on November 28, 2023.
Supporting Vital Causes
Proceeds from the single will benefit two important organizations: the Alzheimer’s Association in the United States and the Care Workers’ Charity in the United Kingdom. The Alzheimer’s Association is recognized as the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Meanwhile, the Care Workers’ Charity focuses on providing crisis assistance, mental health support, and advocacy for social care professionals.
As the charity single gains traction, it serves not only as a source of entertainment but also as a means to raise awareness and funds for essential services that support caregivers and those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. The initiative underscores the collective spirit of the caregiving community and their commitment to making a difference during the holiday season.
