Vallejo Shooting: Woman Critically Injured, Suspect Arrested

URGENT UPDATE: A 34-year-old man from Stockton has been arrested following a shooting that left a woman critically injured in Vallejo last week. The Vallejo Police Department confirmed the suspect, identified as DeShawn Michael Cochise Pollard, was apprehended on Saturday after a brief foot chase in Sacramento.

The incident unfolded on Thursday, October 19, 2023, when police received an emergency call at 11:06 a.m. from a woman reporting that she had been shot. She was en route to a local hospital, where officers met her and discovered she was suffering from life-threatening injuries after being shot in the 100 block of Forest Ridge Drive.

Authorities quickly identified Pollard as the shooting suspect and secured an arrest warrant. They alerted the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office when they learned he might be in the area.

On Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 8:25 p.m., deputies spotted Pollard in the 4500 block of Ledonne Drive and attempted to pull him over. However, he fled in his vehicle, resulting in a collision with another occupied car. The driver of that vehicle was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
