Urgent Sewer Repairs Begin NOW in Buffalo’s Fruit Belt Neighborhood

URGENT UPDATE: Sewer construction and repair work has just begun in Buffalo’s Fruit Belt neighborhood, as announced by the Buffalo Sewer Authority on Monday. This critical initiative includes extensive pipe cleaning, video inspections, and both public and private sewer line replacements.

Residents in the area should prepare for significant disruptions including partial road closures, sidewalk restrictions, and limited street parking. The construction, aimed at revitalizing an infrastructure that has faced neglect for decades, is expected to progress until summer 2026.

“We are especially proud to employ ultraviolet cured-in-place pipe technology to enhance our sewer lines with minimal disruption to our neighbors,” stated Rosaleen Nogle, PE, BCEE, BC.WRE, principal sanitary engineer at the Buffalo Sewer Authority. This innovative approach not only renews existing pipes but also significantly reduces the impact on daily life for residents.

The Buffalo Sewer Authority emphasizes that these improvements are essential for the long-term health of the community. “Updating and improving the sewer infrastructure in neighborhoods like the Fruit Belt is a key component of our ongoing mission,” Nogle added.
