Halifax County Appoints Quentin Jones as New Parks Director
UPDATE: Halifax County has just announced the appointment of Quentin Jones as the new Parks and Recreation Director, effective January 2, 2024. This decision follows an extensive recruitment process aimed at enhancing the county’s community engagement through its parks and recreational programs.
In a statement released by the county, Jones expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am truly excited and honored to step into the role of Parks and Recreation director. This opportunity represents not only a professional milestone for me but also a chance to serve our community in a meaningful way.” His commitment to improving the quality of life for residents through well-maintained parks and inclusive programs is a key focus.
Jones brings over 10 years of experience in parks and recreation, having worked with prominent agencies including Wake Forest Parks and Recreation and Raleigh Parks and Recreation. His diverse background equips him with the skills necessary to build and grow Halifax County’s new parks department.
County Manager Dia Denton praised Jones, noting, “He has a unique opportunity to build and grow the county’s new parks and recreation department. He is well-suited for this position.” This leadership change is set to impact the community significantly, aiming for more engaging and inclusive recreational spaces.
In addition to his professional qualifications, Jones is a passionate sports fan, supporting the UNC Tar Heels and the Atlanta Braves. He is also an active participant in sports, enjoying pickleball and having coached high school basketball for four years at Knightdale High School.
As Halifax County gears up for exciting new recreational initiatives under Jones’s leadership, residents can expect fresh programs and improvements in local parks. This development is poised to transform the community’s recreational landscape, making it more vibrant and inclusive.
