Goodman Theatre Extends “Holiday” Run through March 8 Due to Demand
URGENT UPDATE: The acclaimed play “Holiday,” inspired by the classic 1938 film, has just announced an extension of its run at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre through March 8, 2024, due to overwhelming demand. This dazzling romantic comedy has captured audiences with its vibrant performances and engaging storyline.
The production features Bryce Gangel as Linda and Molly Griggs as Julia, two sisters caught in a love triangle with the ambitious Johnny. The play dives deep into themes of wealth, ambition, and the quest for a meaningful life, making it a must-see for theatre lovers. Gangel describes her character, Linda, as someone who represents a breath of fresh air for the wealthy Julia, highlighting their contrasting desires and life perspectives.
“I think for Julia and him it’s honestly a physical connection, but ultimately, they are not soul compatible,” Griggs explains. “The real love story of the show is the sisters. Their dynamic is the most heartbreaking.”
The Goodman Theatre production has garnered fabulous reviews, and Gangel, a Loyola graduate, expressed her excitement about performing in a city she considers vital to her career. “Chicago is the most special theatre environment in the whole world,” she stated, reflecting on her growth as a performer in the city.
With acclaimed director Robert Falls at the helm, “Holiday” promises to be a memorable theatrical experience. The show encourages audiences to attend with an open heart and be ready to laugh, as Gangel invites theatergoers to immerse themselves in this poignant story about love and self-discovery.
As the buzz around “Holiday” continues to grow, Hosea Sanders will provide more insights about this hot ticket in town next week. Don’t miss your chance to see this enchanting production at the Goodman Theatre before it closes on March 8!
