Broomfield and Holy Family Shine in CHSAA All-State Softball Selections
BREAKING: The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) has just announced its all-state softball selections, highlighting standout performances from Broomfield and Holy Family following their impressive championship runs at Aurora Sports Park last month.
Broomfield leads the charge in Class 5A with star pitcher Ireland Heer, who was named CHSAA and Daily Camera player of the year. Heer boasted an 18-1 record and 1.62 ERA, leading the Eagles to a resounding 17-7 victory in the state championship game. Her coach, Kale Gilmore, was honored as CHSAA’s coach of the year.
Joining Heer on the first team are teammates: Lilly Smith with a stellar .515 batting average, Avery Gines at .435, Lauren Martinez hitting .500, and Kiley Wheaton at .409. Additionally, Fairview’s Julia Savage, ranked 29th nationally with 12 home runs, also secured a first-team position.
Honorable mentions included Monarch’s Kate Church, Erie’s Braelen Heer, Sydnie Snook, and Legacy’s Prisca Smolens, showcasing the depth of talent in the area.
In Class 4A, Holy Family’s Emmaline Humphreys made headlines by winning the CHSAA player of the year award after a remarkable season. Humphreys led her team to a 7-4 state championship victory with an outstanding 19-4 record and a jaw-dropping .81 ERA. Her coach, Moriah Nguyen, was also recognized with top coaching honors.
First-team selections for the Tigers included Giuliana Magnetti with a .325 batting average and Jaelyn Sandoval at .465. Dalynn O’Blia earned honorable mention, while Elayna Fisher from Frederick represented on the 4A second team with a 19-8 record and 4.37 ERA.
Honorable mentions in 4A also featured Brealea Stendel and Ella Stromberg, alongside players from Centaurus, Mead, Niwot, and Peak to Peak, further highlighting the competitive landscape in Colorado high school softball.
In Class 3A, Lyons’ Gretta Wynja, named the Times-Call player of the year, earned a first-team position thanks to her impressive .513 batting average and solid 1.81 ERA over 143.1 innings. Teammate Ava Vasquez joined her on the second team with a .457 average.
Honorable mentions in 3A included players from Jefferson Academy and Peak to Peak, marking a diverse range of talent across the state.
As the excitement unfolds, the recognition of these exceptional athletes not only highlights their achievements but also inspires future generations of softball players. With the season winding down, all eyes are now on the upcoming championships and how these standout players will continue to shape the sport in Colorado.
