Barbara Agenes Ryan, 95, Passes Away Peacefully in NH
BREAKING NEWS: Barbara Agenes (Wojcik) Ryan, a beloved figure in her community, has passed away at the age of 95. She died peacefully on February 14, 2026, at Warde Senior Living in Windham, NH.
Barbara was the widow of the late John Francis Ryan, who died in 1987. Born on October 1, 1930, in Newmarket, NH, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alexandra (Parzyck) Wojcik. Known for her fierce independence and deep faith, Barbara’s legacy touches countless lives.
Throughout her life, Barbara was a dedicated professional and community member. After graduating from Lowell High School in 1948, where she was a Girl Officer and National Honor Society member, she worked at Megowen Educator before becoming a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at Tewksbury State Hospital. She retired in 1989, leaving behind a mark of compassion and commitment.
Barbara’s faith was the cornerstone of her existence. A devoted Catholic, she attended the former Sacred Heart Church and was a communicant at both Immaculate Conception Church and St. Kathryn Parish in Hudson, NH. She was also an avid viewer of daily Mass on Catholic television, embodying her deep spiritual connection.
She is survived by her grandchildren, including Christopher Ryan, Kathryn (Ryan) Andjus, Erica DaCosta, Stephanie (DaCosta) Naylor, and John Ryan, along with ten great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, and a son-in-law. Barbara was predeceased by her beloved children, Kenneth J. Ryan and Mary-Gail DaCosta, and several siblings. Her family expresses their profound grief and gratitude for the life she led, which inspired many.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled, reflecting Barbara’s lifelong commitment to serving others. Funeral arrangements are currently being handled by the McDonough Funeral Home, with further details on services to be announced.
Barbara’s remarkable life was characterized by her unwavering spirit, commitment to family, and dedication to her faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
