11-Year-Old Boy Injured in Huntington Beach Helicopter Crash
URGENT UPDATE: An 11-year-old boy is fighting for his life following a tragic helicopter crash in Huntington Beach, California, earlier this month. The boy, identified as Oliver Holland, suffered a collapsed lung and a brain bleed when a helicopter spiraled out of control and struck him while he was enjoying a day at the beach.
Witnesses report that the helicopter was coasting above the beach when it suddenly lost control, twirling wildly before crashing into a row of palm trees near the Pacific Coast Highway. Videos captured by stunned beachgoers show the aircraft spiraling downwards, leading to chaos as bystanders scrambled to help.
As of October 11, the day of the incident, Oliver is in the hospital undergoing surgery, according to his sister, Madeline Holland, who shared a heartfelt message on a GoFundMe page. “We are praying for a safe recovery, and we can’t really say anything else,” she stated, emphasizing the family’s distress during this critical time.
The GoFundMe campaign has surged to nearly $110,000 from over 2,500 donations, reflecting the community’s support and concern. Madeline describes her brother as “the smartest, funniest boy I have ever known,” and urges others to help raise awareness about this tragic incident.
The Huntington Beach Fire Department reported that five people were hospitalized as a result of the crash, including two occupants of the helicopter, who were “safely pulled from the wreckage.” Three others on the ground were also injured, including Oliver.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash, which occurred during the annual Cars ‘N Copters fundraising event, raising questions about safety protocols in place.
As this developing story unfolds, the community continues to rally behind Oliver and his family, praying for his recovery and hoping for answers regarding the helicopter’s malfunction.
