Warwick Divers Sweep Section IX Championships with Record Scores

The Warwick Wildcats achieved an impressive victory at the Section 9 Swim and Dive Championships held on February 21, 2024, at Valley Central High School. Their divers claimed the top six positions on the championship podium, accumulating a total of 95 points in the event, showcasing their dominance in the competition.

Freshman Drew Voloshin captured his second Section 9 title with a remarkable score of 609.20 points, marking the second highest score in the history of the meet. He led the way for the Wildcats, demonstrating exceptional skill and precision throughout the competition. Following closely behind, Mac Tomlinson secured the silver medal with a commendable score of 511.10 points.

The bronze medal went to Danyal Hafeez, who scored 457.30 points. His performance not only earned him a medal but also qualified him as the fourth Wildcat diver to advance to the New York State championship. The Wildcats’ success did not end there; senior Lucas Wensley finished fourth, while freshman Rory Wright and junior Jaden Klausner rounded out the top six with fifth and sixth place finishes, respectively.

This outstanding performance solidifies Warwick’s position as a powerhouse in diving, as they prepare to defend their team state title at Ithaca College on March 6, 2024. The Wildcats will be looking to build on their recent success and continue their legacy at the state level.
