Lakers Dominate Kings with Strong Performances from Doncic and James
The Los Angeles Lakers secured a convincing 128-104 victory over the Sacramento Kings on March 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. This game marked a continuation of the Lakers’ strong performance post-All-Star break, showcasing remarkable teamwork and individual brilliance.
Luka Doncic led the charge for the Lakers, scoring 28 points, along with nine assists and five rebounds. The Slovenian guard was particularly impressive, shooting 10-of-16 from the field, including 4-of-8 from three-point range. His standout moment came midway through the third quarter when he fell while attempting a mid-range shot but managed to recover and drain a fadeaway three-pointer, extending the Lakers’ lead to 89-65.
LeBron James also had a significant impact on the game. The 41-year-old forward contributed 24 points, including three crucial three-pointers in the second half. One of his key shots came just before the end of the third quarter, bringing the score to 96-76. Lakers head coach JJ Redick noted James’ recent resurgence from beyond the arc, highlighting his confidence in shooting.
The Lakers established a strong first-half lead, reaching a maximum advantage of 22 points. Despite facing some resistance from the Kings during the second and third quarters, the Lakers maintained a comfortable lead for most of the game. Sacramento, currently at the bottom of the Western Conference, attempted to rally but fell short.
The game featured several highlight plays that energized the home crowd. A particularly exciting moment came when backup forward Maxi Kleber dunked over Kings forward Precious Achiuwa, hanging on the rim as he gestured to the bench after giving the Lakers a 51-29 lead in the second quarter.
Another notable performance came from rookie forward Adou Thiero, who capped off the game with a spectacular one-handed dunk, drawing cheers from the audience. Thiero, along with guard Kobe Bufkin, who assisted on a layup, highlighted the Lakers’ depth and youth.
On the Kings’ side, shooting guard Nique Clifford led his team with 26 points in a career-high 42 minutes on the court. Despite his efforts, Sacramento struggled to keep pace with the Lakers, who demonstrated their prowess and skill throughout the match.
The Lakers’ victory on March 1 not only showcased their talent but also reinforced their position as a formidable contender in the league. As they prepare for upcoming games, the focus will remain on maintaining this level of performance and capitalizing on their momentum.
