Miami Dolphins outside linebacker Bradley Chubb has been named the team’s nominee for the prestigious Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award. This recognition was announced on Thursday, and it honors players who excel both on the field and in their commitment to making a positive impact in their communities. All 32 NFL club winners will be celebrated in the week leading up to Super Bowl LX, taking place in the San Francisco Bay Area. The national winner will be revealed during the NFL Honors ceremony, scheduled to air on February 5.

Bradley Chubb embodies everything that Walter Payton and this award stand for — greatness on and off the field and leaving a legacy far greater than oneself,” stated Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel. He emphasized Chubb’s talent as a player and his exemplary qualities as a teammate and leader. “He understands the weight of his platform, and no matter if he is lifting up young players around him in the locker room or young people he interacts with in the community, he is focused on making those around him better.”

Chubb co-founded the Chubb Foundation in 2017 with his brother, Brandon. The foundation aims to activate human potential through youth mentorship, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and physical education. Their initiatives have reached over 5,100 youths and families across Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida, regions significant to Chubb’s life and career.

In his own words, Chubb reflected on the impact of his work: “Every time I walk into a Boys & Girls Club or talk to a group of kids, I see myself at their age — full of potential. That’s what this work is about—impacting young people to activate their potential.” He highlighted that the foundation is about more than just programs; it is about “people, purpose, and planting seeds of belief that will grow for generations.”

Chubb has also built partnerships with Boys & Girls Clubs and various youth organizations in the areas where he serves. Additionally, he has initiated the “Moving the Needle” program, focusing on improving children’s financial literacy. Chubb’s community outreach includes hosting annual free youth football camps in South Florida, Atlanta, and Raleigh while also making visits to children’s hospitals and schools.

On the field, Chubb is having a standout season after recovering from a knee injury that sidelined him for much of 2024. He has started all 12 games so far, leading the Dolphins with six sacks, and has also forced and recovered a fumble. A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Chubb boasts a career total of 45.5 sacks, accumulated over 36 games with the Dolphins and 49 games with the Denver Broncos.

This season marks Chubb’s first as a captain with the Dolphins, a role he previously held in his final year with the Broncos in 2022. His leadership and community service efforts have not gone unnoticed, as he received the team’s 2023 Nat Moore Community Service Award. Prior to Chubb, Dolphins fullback Alec Ingold represented the team as the Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee for the previous two seasons.

As the Dolphins continue their campaign, Chubb’s contributions on and off the field exemplify the spirit of the award he is nominated for, making him a deserving candidate for this esteemed recognition.
