Faamuamua Gago, Beloved Mother and Community Pillar, Passes Away

Faamuamua Gago, a cherished mother, wife, and community figure, passed away on December 27, 2025, in Fairfield, California, at the age of 63. Known affectionately as “Mua,” she was a beacon of love and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her.

Born in 1962 on the island of Western Samoa, Mua spent her formative years immersed in the beauty of her homeland. Growing up on her family’s expansive land, she learned the traditions and customs of her people, which deeply influenced her life and values.

Her journey to the United States began when she fell in love with an American helicopter mechanic. This pivotal moment led her to a new life where she embraced her role as a caretaker. Mua dedicated herself to spreading joy and warmth, whether through her work as a sales associate or her responsibilities as a mother. Despite challenges, she remained devoted to nurturing her sons, Jeffrey Wright and Alan Wright, along with her daughters, Julie McComick and Elsie Fruean.

Mua’s passion for family extended beyond her children. She took great pride in her Samoan heritage and loved sharing stories about her ever-growing family. Discovering new relatives brought her immense joy, reflecting her deep-rooted connection to her culture.

Her life was characterized by a spirit of compassion and acceptance. Friends and family remember her as a person who gave her heart fully to everyone she encountered. She taught those around her the importance of living passionately and without judgment. Mua’s enthusiasm was evident in her love for games, particularly bingo, where she often shared laughter and camaraderie with friends, leaving a trail of colorful markers from her handbag as a testament to her playful spirit.

Mua is survived by her spouse, Kyle Kazemba, her children, and several grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Senileva Gago and Gago Gago.

A memorial service to celebrate Mua’s life will take place at 2 PM on February 22, 2026, at The Four Star Theater located at 2200 Clement Street, San Francisco, CA.
