Beloved Nurse Myrtle Virginia Hollister Passes at Age 100

Myrtle Virginia “Ginny” Hollister, a cherished member of her community and a dedicated healthcare professional, passed away on November 29, 2025, in Spring Hill, Florida. She was 100 years old and leaves behind a legacy of compassion and care.

Born on January 9, 1925, in Yorktown, Virginia, Hollister pursued a career in nursing, graduating from the Maryview Hospital School of Nursing in Portsmouth, Virginia, in 1948. Her commitment to health care led her to serve as a Registered Nurse at Maryview Hospital, where she impacted the lives of many.

On December 30, 1950, Hollister married her husband, Dale Hollister. Throughout their marriage, the couple lived in various states, including Virginia, Michigan, New York, Iowa, and finally Florida. The family grew to include three children, but they faced profound sorrow with the passing of their son, Dale Jr., and daughter, Christine.

Hollister is survived by her daughter, Theresa Winnell, of Charlevoix, Michigan; daughter Cecilia (Richard) Fisher of Palm Harbor, Florida; son Lester (Julie) Hollister of Floyd, Iowa; and son Randall Hollister of Scottsdale, Arizona. She also leaves behind an extensive family, including 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services and Final Resting Place

A private family memorial Mass is scheduled to take place at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Spring Hill, Florida. Following the service, Hollister will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

Myrtle Virginia Hollister’s life was marked by her dedication to healthcare and her profound love for family. Her contributions as a nurse and her enduring spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
