Suzanna’s Kitchen Recalls 13,720 Pounds of Chicken Due to Listeria
Suzanna’s Kitchen has announced the recall of approximately 13,720 pounds of ready-to-eat grilled chicken breast fillet products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall was made public by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on January 16, 2025, following a positive result from a laboratory test.
The affected chicken fillets were produced on October 14, 2025, and distributed to various food service sales centers across multiple states. Although the USDA has not received any confirmed reports of illness linked to the consumption of these products, health officials advise consumers to consult with a healthcare provider if they experience any related health issues.
Details of the Recall
The recall specifically targets 10-pound cases containing two 5-pound bags of fully cooked grilled chicken breast fillets with rib meat. These cases are marked with the lot code 60104 P1382 287 5 J14, which can be found on the side of the case as well as on individual packages.
Distribution of the chicken breast fillets occurred in several states, though the USDA has not specified which ones. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to check their freezers and discard any items matching the recall specifications.
For further inquiries, consumers can reach out to Dawn Duncan, the Customer Service Director at Suzanna’s Kitchen, via email at [email protected]. As of now, there has been no information released regarding refund options for consumers holding the recalled products.
Health Risks and Precautions
Listeria monocytogenes can pose serious health risks, particularly to vulnerable populations such as pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of listeriosis may include fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal issues, which can escalate to more severe complications if not promptly addressed.
Consumers are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any unusual health concerns following the consumption of the recalled chicken products. In the absence of confirmed illnesses related to this specific recall, officials emphasize the importance of food safety and adherence to recall announcements.
As food safety remains a critical concern, this incident underscores the necessity for manufacturers and distributors to implement stringent testing and quality control measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future. The USDA continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
