Val Chmerkovskiy Hospitalized, Misses DWTS Live Tour Show
Professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy had to withdraw from a scheduled performance on the Dancing With the Stars Live Tour on March 1, 2024, in Peoria, Illinois, after being hospitalized due to vertigo. The 39-year-old star shared the news with fans on social media, expressing his regret over missing the show.
In an Instagram story, Chmerkovskiy explained that he had been experiencing vertigo for several days, which ultimately required medical attention. He posted a selfie from his hospital bed, saying, “My apologies to all the fans that came out to see us today in Peoria. Thank you to my fellow castmates for rallying.” He added that he was determined to recover swiftly, stating, “It takes quite literally me not being able to stand on my feet to keep me off that stage.”
Chmerkovskiy’s Condition and Tour Updates
Following his hospitalization, Chmerkovskiy provided further insight into his condition via a video on his account. “So yeah, my bad. I ended up out here in Peoria, but the doc was cool — shout out to Claire, our physical therapist on tour, and everyone on our tour for rallying,” he shared. He elaborated on his symptoms, noting, “I’ve just been having vertigo for the past couple of days and had it yesterday.”
The dancer explained that he had managed to perform the previous day but required tests afterward. He described the sensation as being disoriented, stating, “I guess that kind of, once that little crystal in your equilibrium — again I’m learning a lot — once it goes out, it’s really hard to get it back in.” Chmerkovskiy compared his experience to “spinning everywhere,” particularly when on the moving tour bus.
Chmerkovskiy expressed hope for a quick recovery, mentioning that he planned to rest and possibly return to the stage soon. “Hopefully tomorrow’s a day off, and I’ll be back on Tuesday,” he concluded.
