James Badge Dale, Matty Matheson, and Imogen Poots Join A24’s ‘October’
James Badge Dale, Matty Matheson, and Imogen Poots have been confirmed as the latest cast members for October, a new thriller from acclaimed writer-director Jeremy Saulnier. The film, backed by A24, is currently in production and is set to deliver a gripping narrative centered around a Halloween fugitive theme. While specific plot details remain undisclosed, the anticipation surrounding the film is steadily growing within the industry.
Dale, recognized for his roles in notable series such as The Pacific and 24, brings a wealth of experience to the project. Recently, he appeared in Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy and Hightown. His film credits include significant works like World War Z and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. Dale has previously collaborated with Saulnier on the film Hold the Dark in 2018 and is represented by CAA, MJ Management, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Matheson, who has gained recognition as a chef and restaurateur, is making waves in the entertainment sector through his role as Neil Fak in FX’s The Bear, where he also serves as an executive producer. His dynamic presence in the industry is supported by representation from WME, Cassoulet Palace Inc., and Nixon Peabody.
Poots, who previously worked with Saulnier on Green Room, will soon appear in Nia DaCosta’s Hedda, which is set to release in select theaters and on Prime Video following its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. She is also featured in The Chronology of Water, directed by Kristen Stewart. Poots is represented by WME, Entertainment 360, B-Side, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
The cast also includes Cory Michael Smith, who leads the ensemble, alongside talents such as Chase Sui Wonders, Sophie Wilde, Stanley Simons, Young Mazino, and Stephen Root. The production is being overseen by Rich Peete for Neighborhood Watch, alongside Eli Bush for Central, and both Jeremy and Skei Saulnier for Niteowl Films.
As production continues, fans and industry insiders alike are eager for insights into this latest collaboration from A24, known for its distinctive storytelling and commitment to innovative cinema. With a strong ensemble cast and a director of Saulnier’s caliber, October is poised to be another significant addition to the studio’s impressive portfolio.
