White Rhino Coffee Acquires Emporium Pies in Dallas
White Rhino Coffee, a coffee company established in 2007 in Dallas, has acquired Emporium Pies, a beloved local bakery chain known for its handcrafted pies. This acquisition marks a significant transition for Emporium Pies, which was founded in 2012 by sisters Landon Perdue, Jen Abohosh, and Addie Roberts. The deal aims to enhance both businesses while maintaining their core values and commitment to quality.
In an official statement, Roberts expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, noting that it aligns with their shared focus on hospitality and community spirit. “Part of our shared mission is hospitality and giving people a reason to celebrate,” she said. She reassured customers that the team at Emporium Pies, including the bakers, will continue to work with the company, ensuring that the beloved recipes remain unchanged.
Emporium Pies began as a small operation selling pies from a historic bungalow in Bishop Arts. Over the years, it has expanded to four locations, including shops in McKinney, Deep Ellum, and Fort Worth. This acquisition represents the second ownership change for the pie company, which was sold by its original founders in 2022.
Sara Escamilla, CEO of White Rhino Coffee, praised Emporium Pies for its exceptional legacy. “Their products are consistently excellent, impeccably crafted, and beloved,” she remarked. Escamilla highlighted the quality of ingredients used in every pie and emphasized the honor of being able to support and grow such a commendable concept.
While both businesses will continue to operate as usual for the time being, White Rhino Coffee plans to explore opportunities for expanding Emporium Pies’ presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Future collaborations are also on the horizon, including the introduction of signature pie-and-coffee pairings. “For now, it simply means coffee and pie—two of life’s best comforts—can be enjoyed across both brands,” Escamilla added.
The acquisition not only strengthens White Rhino Coffee’s position in the local market but also provides Emporium Pies with the resources to expand its reach, allowing more people to experience their renowned desserts. This partnership illustrates a commitment to preserving the joy of dessert while fostering community connections through both coffee and pie.
