Sisters Killed in Fresno County Crash: Family Calls for Support
URGENT UPDATE: A tragic car crash in Fresno County, California has claimed the lives of two sisters, leaving their family devastated and seeking support. The incident occurred on Tuesday night on Belmont Avenue, just west of Brawley Avenue, when the driver, 21-year-old Angelina Nino, lost control of the vehicle while speeding and failed to stop at a stop sign.
Authorities from the California Highway Patrol confirm that Nino was driving recklessly when her car veered off the road, resulting in her death at the scene. Tragically, her 14-year-old sister Rayla Piedra was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival. A 27-year-old man who was also in the vehicle sustained injuries and remains hospitalized.
The family is heartbroken, with Lorraine Quinonez, their aunt, expressing the profound pain of losing both girls. “So the weight of it all, it’s heavy, because it’s not just one, it’s both of them, both of our baby girls,” she told Action News. “We all helped raise them, so we all had a portion with them. I’m just trying to be as strong as I can for my sister.”
Rayla was preparing to celebrate her 15th birthday on November 8, adding to the tragedy of her untimely death. The family is now faced with the heartbreaking task of laying both sisters to rest.
To support the family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe has been established. The community is urged to contribute to help cover the funeral expenses and honor the memory of these two young lives lost too soon.
As the family navigates this painful period, their call for support highlights the urgent need for community solidarity in times of tragedy. Further updates on the crash and the family’s situation are expected as authorities continue their investigation.
This heartbreaking story serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing loved ones. Families and friends are encouraged to reach out and offer their condolences during this incredibly challenging time.
