Urgent: Trump’s Gaza Peace Deal Faces Collapse Amid Rising Tensions
UPDATE: The Trump administration is in a state of turmoil as reports indicate that President Donald Trump’s historic peace deal involving Gaza is at serious risk of failure. Just weeks after both Israel and Hamas tentatively agreed to Trump’s plan, officials are sounding alarm bells over escalating tensions and key rejections from Israeli leadership.
According to a report from Axios, the agreement aimed at a full withdrawal of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) from Gaza, alongside Hamas’ commitment to return Israeli hostages and disarm. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has publicly dismissed Turkey’s proposed role in a new Palestinian police force, a move that is raising serious concerns among U.S. officials.
“The Turks were very helpful in getting the Gaza deal, and Netanyahu’s bashing Turkey has been very counterproductive,” a U.S. official revealed, speaking on the condition of anonymity. This growing rift threatens to derail months of diplomatic efforts that were expected to stabilize the region.
The situation remains precarious as violence escalates. On Tuesday, the IDF conducted airstrikes that reportedly killed 104 Palestinians in a single night, triggering fears of renewed conflict. A source involved in the peace negotiations emphasized, “If we don’t have reliable security and governance in Gaza that the Israelis agree to, we will get stuck in a situation where Israel is attacking all the time.”
Critics have been quick to point out the fragility of Trump’s peace plan, with high-ranking Israeli officials voicing objections almost immediately after the deal was brokered. Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir took to social media on Tuesday to state, “With the devil, one is forbidden to make deals,” reflecting the deep skepticism surrounding the agreement.
As dissent mounts within Israel, other prominent figures, including Defense Minister Israel Katz and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, have also expressed strong opposition to key components of Trump’s plan, threatening to continue military actions in Gaza even after the return of hostages.
Despite these setbacks, some within the Trump administration remain hopeful. “It is better to move slow and get it right because we are not gonna have a second chance,” a senior U.S. official commented, underscoring the high stakes involved in this delicate diplomatic effort.
This situation is evolving rapidly, and all eyes are on the Trump administration as they navigate these tumultuous waters. The international community is urged to watch closely as developments unfold, with the potential for significant geopolitical ramifications.
