Todd Stashwick Willing to Return as Shaw in Star Trek: Legacy
Todd Stashwick, known for his role as Captain Liam Shaw in *Star Trek: Picard*, has expressed his openness to reprise his character in the potential new series *Star Trek: Legacy*. During a recent event at STLV: Trek to Vegas, Stashwick indicated that he would return as long as the project, which has been hinted at for two years, meets his expectations.
Captain Shaw, who commanded the USS Titan-A, met a tragic end in the third season of *Star Trek: Picard* when he was killed by the Borg. Despite this, Stashwick and showrunner Terry Matalas have teased that Shaw could make a comeback as an Emergency Engineering Hologram, affectionately dubbed a “Shawlogram.” This playful term reflects the actor’s enthusiasm for the character and the franchise.
In an interview with TrekMovie, Stashwick shared his thoughts on returning for *Star Trek: Legacy*. He stated, “I love workin’. I love the character of Shaw. I love the Star Trek universe, and I love all the people that… If someone chooses to greenlight this project, and fills it with all the people that the Legacy show would have: Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, Ed Speleers, Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut, Mica Burton, I would love to work with those people. If that means appearing as a hologram, and it contributes to my health and pension, I’m there.”
The anticipation surrounding *Star Trek: Legacy* is significant, particularly following the positive reception of *Star Trek: Picard*’s third season. Fans are eager for a continuation that honors the legacy of the franchise, and Stashwick’s potential return is a key part of that conversation. He emphasizes that the series must maintain the promise established in the previous season’s finale.
At the Trek to Vegas event, Matalas revealed he has written approximately 30 pages of the *Star Trek: Legacy* pilot. The new series is expected to feature Jeri Ryan as Captain Seven of Nine and Ed Speleers as Ensign Jack Crusher, reuniting familiar characters from the *Star Trek* universe. Matalas also hinted at the involvement of Klingons, suggesting a rich narrative ahead.
As *Star Trek* continues to evolve under the new management of Paramount Skydance, there is growing hope that *Star Trek: Legacy* will be greenlit. Stashwick’s willingness to return, coupled with the involvement of key talent from *Star Trek: Picard*, reinforces the fanbase’s desire for a continuation that is both faithful and innovative.
The upcoming months will be pivotal for the future of *Star Trek*. With Stashwick involved in other projects, including a charity event for Dungeons & Dragons featuring fellow *Star Trek* actors in November, his schedule may be busy, but his passion for the franchise remains strong.
The potential for *Star Trek: Legacy* to deliver a worthy successor to *Star Trek: Picard* hinges on the right combination of talent, storytelling, and audience expectations. As fans await further announcements, the excitement for a new chapter in the *Star Trek* saga continues to build.
