Cloquet Community Mourns the Passing of Rosa Lee Manderfeld
Rosa Lee Manderfeld, fondly known as Rosie, passed away on October 16, 2025, in Cloquet, Minnesota. She was born on February 2, 1942, to parents George and Senja Ahlgren, growing up on a small farm as the middle child among seven siblings. Rosa graduated from Cloquet High School in 1960 and later pursued a career in nursing.
After completing her nursing education, she dedicated 42 years of her life as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Cloquet Memorial Hospital. Her commitment to healthcare exemplified her caring nature. Outside of her professional life, Rosa was known for her passion for walking and achieved a personal milestone by completing the Grandma’s Marathon in 1992.
Family and Legacy
On February 16, 1963, Rosa married Jerome (Jerry) Manderfeld, and together they welcomed two children, Elizabeth and David. Their marriage lasted for 46 years until Jerry’s passing in 2009. Rosa’s deep love for her family remained evident throughout her life.
She is predeceased by her parents and her husband, as well as her brothers George (Elaine), Arnold (Kathy), Ronald (Kathy, deceased), Gordon (Linda Kewith), Bruce (Marla) Ahlgren, and sister Arlene Anderson (Dennis, deceased).
Rosa is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Haidar) Fakhoury, son David (Dawn) Manderfeld, and her beloved grandchildren: Jeries (Shannon) Fakhoury, Joseph Fakhoury, Logan Manderfeld (Rita Kuzko), Kiera Manderfeld, along with her great-grandson Micah. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who cherished her.
Celebration of Life and Contributions
A celebration of Rosa’s life will be organized at a later date, allowing family and friends to come together and honor her memory. Those wishing to express their condolences may contribute to the Ahlgren Education Fund or the American Heart Association. Donations can be made through the Cloquet Education Foundation’s website or the American Heart Association’s official site.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, which is known for its compassionate care during difficult times.
Rosa Lee Manderfeld’s legacy as a devoted mother, nurse, and community member will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
