Dr. Luke Wainscoat Joins The Brattle Group as Principal Economist

The Brattle Group has announced the appointment of Dr. Luke Wainscoat as a Principal in its Antitrust & Competition practice, expanding its Sydney office. With 20 years of experience, Dr. Wainscoat brings significant expertise in competition, regulatory, and damages matters, particularly within Australia and New Zealand.
Recognized as one of Australia’s leading competition economists by Lexology Index, Dr. Wainscoat has handled complex issues including merger clearance processes, cartel investigations, and anticompetitive agreements. His extensive background includes serving as an economic expert in the Federal Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of Victoria, where he contributed to high-profile cases such as the recent Apple v. Epic dispute.
Expanding Regional Capabilities
In a statement regarding Dr. Wainscoat’s appointment, Torben Voetmann, President and Principal at Brattle, expressed confidence that his addition will enhance the firm’s regional capabilities. “Luke is an outstanding addition to Brattle’s expanding Sydney office and global antitrust team,” Voetmann stated. Prior to joining Brattle, Dr. Wainscoat spent 14 years working as an economist in consultancies in Sydney. Earlier in his career, he was employed at the United Kingdom’s Office of Fair Trading, where he gained foundational experience in competitive economics.
