Brandy Explains Abrupt Exit from Chicago Stage During Tour

R&B star Brandy has addressed her unexpected departure from the stage during a performance in Chicago on March 16, 2024. The incident occurred at the United Center as part of “The Boy is Mine Tour,” leaving fellow artist Monica to conclude the show alone.
According to reports from TMZ, Brandy walked off while performing, stating, “Give me one second, y’all, I gotta get my …,” before heading backstage. Following her exit, Monica finished the concert, which culminated in the duo’s iconic 1998 hit, “The Boy is Mine.”
In a heartfelt Facebook post addressed to her fans, Brandy expressed her gratitude for the support she received and explained the reason for her abrupt exit. She noted that after weeks of rehearsals, she experienced dehydration and felt faint during the performance.
Brandy’s Response to Fans
Brandy’s full statement conveyed her commitment to her health and well-being. She stated, “I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance in Chicago. After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint.” She emphasized that everyone involved agreed her health should take priority.
She continued, “I still made the decision to try and return and give it my all despite not feeling OK. With having to make some adjustments and the show being very technical, unfortunately, it was impossible to fully connect sonically with the production.”
Brandy expressed her appreciation for Monica’s professionalism, saying, “I’m deeply grateful to my sister, Monica, for stepping up with such grace and professionalism and the entire crew for their continued care and support.”
After the incident, Brandy sought medical attention and has assured fans that she is taking proper precautions moving forward. She concluded her message with optimism, stating, “I look forward to returning to the stage — stronger and more grateful than ever — alongside my girl, Monica, (March 17) night in Indianapolis.”
The Boy is Mine Tour Continues
The tour, which began on March 14, 2024, in Cincinnati, celebrates the legacy of Brandy and Monica’s collaboration. Their song “The Boy is Mine” not only topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart but also won a Grammy in 1999 for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group. The artists reunited for this tour after their successful collaboration on the 2012 track “It All Belongs to Me.”
As the tour progresses, fans are eager to see Brandy and Monica perform together again, highlighting the enduring appeal of their music and the strong bond between the two artists.
