Local Lunch Gem The Salad Bar Opens in Saginaw, MI Today!
BREAKING NEWS: A new culinary delight has just launched in downtown Saginaw! The Salad Bar, created by passionate owner Latasha Lawson, officially opened its doors today, May 1, 2024, inside the SVRC Marketplace, located at 203 S. Washington Ave.. This vibrant eatery promises fresh, made-to-order salads, sandwiches, and smoothies packed with high-quality ingredients.
Lawson, who previously operated Soul Food Sistas, a catering company, has poured her heart into this new venture. She described the effort as “my blood, sweat, and tears,” emphasizing her commitment to quality and flavor. “I love all my customers; I love all the community support,” Lawson stated.
The Salad Bar features a wide array of fresh greens, including spring mix, romaine, and spinach, alongside a selection of proteins and toppings that cater to every palate. Customers can choose from signature salads, like the Kenya Special, or create their own masterpieces. This special salad, crafted in honor of Lawson’s late friend, includes spinach, chicken, shrimp, and more.
The ordering process is straightforward:
1. Choose your greens base
2. Select your protein
3. Pick vegetables and/or fruit
4. Add cheese
5. Choose toppings
6. Finish with dressing
Prices are accessible, with additional premium options available. Vegan choices are also prominently featured, ensuring everyone can enjoy a health-conscious meal without sacrificing taste.
In addition to salads, the menu includes rotating soups like homemade chicken and dumplings, inspired by Lawson’s 87-year-old mother, Lettie Donald. “It’s awesome having her with me,” Lawson said, highlighting the family aspect of her culinary creations.
The Salad Bar operates on a flexible schedule, open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays for specialty taco salads, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Wednesday to Saturday. Lawson encourages everyone to visit and explore the full offerings, as many items are not visible in the limited display space.
Located within the bustling SVRC Marketplace, The Salad Bar is part of a community-driven initiative supporting local small businesses. Lawson hopes to draw more attention to this vibrant hub, stating, “I wish more people knew about the SVRC Marketplace. It’s a great starting point for any small business.”
As community members seek healthier dining options, Lawson’s commitment to using natural ingredients shines through every dish. With fresh ingredients and a personal touch, The Salad Bar is set to become a staple for lunch and dinner in Saginaw.
