Dolly Parton Shares Health Update, Reflects on Grief After Loss
Dolly Parton recently provided fans with an update regarding her health, revealing that she has been feeling “worn down” following the death of her husband, Carl Dean. The beloved country music star opened up about her struggles during a video message shared on March 13, coinciding with the opening day of Dollywood.
Parton, who has not been touring recently, acknowledged that she has faced some underlying health issues. She stated in the video, “I’ve had a few little health issues, and we’re taking good care of them.” This admission follows previous health concerns, including the need to address kidney stones back in September 2024.
Reflecting on her emotional state after the loss of Carl Dean on March 3, 2025, Parton expressed, “I just kind of got worn down and worn out, grieving over Carl and a lot of other little things going on.” She emphasized the need to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically, while reassuring her fans that she remains positive, saying, “But, all is good. It didn’t slow me down.”
In her characteristic light-hearted manner, Parton addressed rumors about her personal life following her husband’s passing. She clarified that she is not dating anyone new and jokingly remarked that fans should not confuse Dollywood Company President Eugene Naughton as her “new husband.” She affirmed, “I think Carl Dean’s waiting for me. If I should show up at the pearly gates with somebody else, he would not like that.”
Parton’s health was also a topic of discussion in October 2024. At that time, she reassured her followers, stating, “I know lately, everyone thinks I’m sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here.” In another video shared on October 8, she mentioned, “I want you to know I’m okay. I’ve got some problems… when he passed, I let a lot of things go that I should have been taking care of.” To add a touch of humor, she concluded that video with the caption, “I ain’t dead yet!”
Dolly Parton’s resilience and positive spirit continue to inspire her fans around the world as she navigates this difficult time. Her candid updates serve not only to inform but also to reassure those who admire her enduring strength.
