Xiaomi 17 Pro Max Battery Faces Challenge from Oppo’s Find X9 Pro
UPDATE: The battle for smartphone battery supremacy intensifies as new tests reveal that Xiaomi’s much-anticipated 17 Pro Max, launched on September 25, 2025, may not hold the crown for long. Independent evaluations indicate that Oppo’s upcoming Find X9 Pro has outperformed Xiaomi in critical real-world battery benchmarks, raising questions about the endurance claims of Xiaomi’s flagship device.
In a shocking turn of events, the 7,500 mAh battery of the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, which initially edged out Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max in a battery drain test by just five minutes, is now facing stiff competition. TechDroider’s rigorous assessment showed the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max achieving 13 hours and 36 minutes of usage, compared to Apple’s 13 hours and 31 minutes, despite the iPhone’s significantly smaller 4,823 mAh battery.
However, recent evaluations from Novice Evaluation and WhyLab reveal that Oppo’s Find X9 Pro, not yet officially released, has surpassed Xiaomi with impressive results. In a heavy-use benchmark, the Find X9 Pro reportedly lasted 7 hours and 18 minutes, compared to Xiaomi’s 6 hours and 49 minutes. Even the base Oppo Find X9, with a smaller battery, achieved 6 hours and 51 minutes, solidifying Oppo’s position as a formidable contender.
The findings raise critical concerns about Xiaomi’s battery efficiency during demanding tasks. Despite the impressive capacity of the 17 Pro Max, it seems to struggle under heavy workloads, suggesting that further software optimizations are necessary before its global rollout. A separate analysis by WhyLab highlighted that the Find X9 Pro achieved an astounding 9 hours and 30 minutes of continuous operation, while Xiaomi trailed at 8 hours and 24 minutes.
These developments have ignited discussions among tech enthusiasts regarding the future of Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone. As it stands, Xiaomi has not announced an official international release date or pricing for the 17 Pro Max, but sources speculate availability between February and March 2026. Meanwhile, Oppo’s early performance data has set high expectations ahead of its official unveiling.
For now, the stakes are high in the smartphone battery race, and while Xiaomi boasts one of the largest batteries on the market, Oppo’s upcoming flagship is poised to redefine endurance standards in 2026.
As consumers eagerly await the global announcements, it remains to be seen how these new revelations will impact the sales and popularity of both devices. Stay tuned as we continue to monitor this developing story.
