Montgomery County Food Inspections Reveal Health Violations
Food safety inspections conducted by the Montgomery County Office of Public Health from February 1 to 7, 2026, uncovered a range of health violations across various establishments. Reports detailed issues such as mold, rodent droppings, and the presence of insects, raising concerns about compliance with health regulations in the county’s food service sector.
All food and drink establishments in Montgomery County undergo annual inspections. If an establishment fails to meet health standards during an inspection or if complaints are received, inspectors may return for follow-up assessments. The Montgomery County Office of Public Health emphasizes that inspection reports provide only a “snapshot” of cleanliness, and many violations are corrected on-site during the inspection process.
Key Violations Across Establishments
Among the establishments inspected, Dunkin Donuts locations were highlighted for significant violations. At one location on 1882 Markley Street, inspectors noted the absence of required signage regarding the latest health inspection report, as well as a lack of a certified food protection manager certificate. Additional findings included unclean food-contact surfaces and inadequate pest control measures.
Another Dunkin Donuts at 407 2nd Avenue faced a follow-up inspection after a previous report indicated the presence of roach-like insects. At this site, employees were observed consuming food and beverages in food preparation areas, which is against safety protocols. The establishment has ten business days to provide proof of pest control measures to the health department.
Other establishments such as Cafe San Pietro and Ristorante Positano also faced scrutiny. The inspection report for Cafe San Pietro noted improper food storage practices, with sauces stored in unsealed cans, while Ristorante Positano had issues related to unclean ice machines and inadequate warewashing facilities.
Impact of Violations on Public Health
The findings from Montgomery County’s inspections underscore the importance of maintaining rigorous food safety standards in public establishments. Health violations pose significant risks to public health, potentially leading to foodborne illnesses. The public is encouraged to report any illnesses arising from food consumption at these establishments using the complaint form provided by the health department.
The county offers a comprehensive food safety inspection database for residents to review inspection results for any establishment in the area. This transparency allows consumers to make informed decisions about where to dine.
The Montgomery County Office of Public Health continues to monitor compliance and ensure that all food establishments adhere to health regulations. Establishments that fail to address violations promptly may face legal action or closure, highlighting the critical nature of food safety in protecting community health.
