Grand Forks’ Happy Harry’s Unveils 2,500-Case Busch Mountain
In Grand Forks, North Dakota, Happy Harry’s Bottle Shop has constructed an impressive mountain made entirely of Busch Light, comprising 2,500 cases. This eye-catching display, measuring approximately 240 square feet, serves as the store’s entry in a national contest organized by Anheuser-Busch. The ambitious structure took nearly ten hours to build and aims to secure a trophy after achieving notable placements in previous years.
Building the Busch Mountain
Greg Rixen, general manager of Happy Harry’s, expressed optimism about their chances in the competition. “We’re taking a shot at going for the trophy,” he stated. The store has previously clinched first place and tied for second in the contest, making it a formidable competitor. Rixen credited the efforts of Dakota Sales Company representatives and his dedicated staff for the intricate preparation and construction of the display, which features an outdoor, camping theme inspired by off-roading.
The design incorporates elements from local business Throttle Addiction, showcasing an ATV and a dirt bike, adding to the adventurous spirit of the display. Rixen noted, “By the time they stripped that floor down and got that all built up with all the fun stuff on it, it was probably a good eight to ten hours total.”
History of Success and Popularity
The Happy Harry’s location on 32nd Avenue has established itself as a leading seller of Busch Light in Grand Forks. The two stores in the area consistently rank among the top five nationwide accounts for Busch Light. Rixen highlighted that while the stores may not always hold the top spots due to the beer’s growing popularity, they remain significant players, with both locations having reached the upper tiers in the past.
The Busch Mountain display is expected to remain on view for the next two to three weeks, aligning with the contest timeline. The contest ends on February 28, giving participants the chance to win a “mountain of Busch” by entering online. The winner will receive a prepaid Visa gift card valued at $10,000, adding further excitement to the event.
Happy Harry’s originated in Grand Forks and has expanded into the Fargo market, boasting a total of five stores. As the competition heats up, the community eagerly anticipates the outcome of this year’s contest and the fate of the impressive Busch Mountain display.
