Freshmen Stars Shine as Men’s Wooden Award Midseason List Revealed

UPDATE: The men’s Wooden Award midseason top 25 watchlist has just been released, showcasing an exciting lineup of nine freshmen, led by Duke’s Cameron Boozer and BYU’s AJ Dybantsa. This announcement comes as the college basketball season heats up, with both players making headlines for their exceptional performances.

Boozer, currently leading the nation in scoring with an impressive 23.3 points per game, has been a standout player, scoring at least 14 points in every game this season and achieving seven double-doubles. His contributions have been pivotal in helping Duke achieve a remarkable 14-1 record. Standing at 6-foot-9, Boozer also averages 9.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists, solidifying his status as a top contender.

In a remarkable showing, Dybantsa is close behind Boozer, averaging 23.1 PPG. The freshman recently completed a spectacular month, averaging 27.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 2.3 steals in December, while shooting nearly 66% from the field. His performance has set new benchmarks for freshmen in college basketball.

Also making waves is North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson, who averages 19.3 points and 10.9 rebounds, showcasing his talent with ten double-doubles in just 15 games.

Jefferson, the cornerstone of the undefeated 14-0 Cyclones, is averaging 17.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.4 assists. Lendeborg, a transfer from UAB, contributes significantly with 14.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists for the second-ranked Wolverines.
