Experts Urge Dante Moore to Return to School, Avoid Jets Selection
URGENT UPDATE: College football experts are urging top NFL Draft prospect Dante Moore to forgo the 2026 NFL Draft and return to Oregon. This advice comes in light of concerns regarding a potential selection by the New York Jets, a team struggling to find success in the league.
Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt emphasized the importance of Moore’s decision, stating, “If Dante Moore called me today, and he said, ‘What should I do?’ I wouldn’t blink an eye. I would say go back to school.” Klatt argues that returning to college would not only enhance Moore’s skills but also allow him to earn substantial income while developing further as a quarterback.
Klatt highlighted that Moore could secure “life-changing money” at Oregon, pointing out that the financial aspect is no longer the sole reason for entering the NFL early. He noted that gaining additional experience and maturity is crucial for a successful NFL career. “Getting extra starts prepares you for what you could potentially have, which is a long NFL career,” Klatt added.
The chance of being drafted by the Jets has raised alarm bells for analysts, considering the team’s recent struggles. Klatt remarked, “Fit and organization are obviously going to impact that as well,” underscoring the importance of a supportive environment for quarterbacks in the NFL.
Klatt referenced successful quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Matthew Stafford, both of whom had significant collegiate experience before transitioning to the NFL. “Look what [Stafford] is doing. There’s a good chance he’s going to win the MVP,” Klatt noted, reinforcing the value of a robust collegiate career.
Moore, currently just 20 years old, would still have time to declare for the draft at 21 years old in 2027, making a return to college a strategic move for his future. Experts believe another year of development could make a significant difference in his performance and readiness for the professional league.
As the 2026 NFL Draft approaches, more voices are likely to join the conversation about Moore’s future, urging him to consider all options carefully. The decision he makes now could shape his career for years to come.
