The Nanticoke area is set to host a series of engaging community events this January, offering residents opportunities to enjoy music, games, and support local initiatives. The first notable event is the Friends of the Mill Memorial Library’s book sale, taking place on January 3, 2026, from 10:00 to 13:00. This sale features hardcovers and softcovers priced at $2 each and children’s books available for just 50 cents. Proceeds from the sale will directly benefit the Friends of the Mill Memorial Library.

Another highlight is a concert by country music artist Bradley Banning scheduled for January 7, 2026, at 19:00. The concert will take place at the Father Nash Parish Center, located adjacent to St. Faustina Kowalska Parish at 520 S. Hanover St. in Nanticoke. Admission to the concert is free, though a free will offering will be accepted. Banning, known for his family-focused and God-centered music, will perform following a 18:00 Mass in the church. For further details, attendees can contact the parish office at 570-735-4833 or visit www.bradleybanning.com.

In addition to these events, the West Side Playground will host bi-monthly bingo games, opening doors at 17:00 with games commencing at 18:00 every first and third Tuesday of the month. This lively event will take place at the association’s hall located at 389 W. Grand St., offering food, refreshments, and door prizes in a non-smoking environment. For inquiries, interested parties can call 570-905-0524.

The American Legion Post 350 also invites the community to its monthly bingo night, held on the second Wednesday of each month. Doors will open at 18:00, with games starting at 19:00. The kitchen will operate from 18:00 to 20:30, providing food for attendees.

On the charitable front, the Newport Township Community Organization, in collaboration with the Weinberg Regional Food Bank, conducts a monthly food distribution. This outdoor drive-through event is scheduled for the second Saturday of each month from 11:00 to 12:00, taking place at the municipal garage adjacent to the municipal building on Kirmar Parkway. When the garage is unavailable, distributions will occur at the Wanamie Recreation Park parking lot. Recipients must pre-register at least five days before the event by calling 570-592-7876.

These events reflect the vibrant community spirit of Nanticoke, offering residents various ways to engage, support local initiatives, and enjoy entertainment throughout January.
