Just announced, one of the most anticipated events is the holiday drone shows, courtesy of a collaboration between Visit Denver and local drone company Brightflight. These mesmerizing, free fifteen-minute shows will light up the skies every night through the end of December, with prime viewing spots at Tivoli Quad on the Auraria Campus and the Denver Performing Arts Complex. This innovative display aims to enhance the holiday experience for all.
Since the inception of Christmas light displays by pioneering electrician David Dwight “D.D.” Sturgeon in 1914, Denver has embraced the holiday spirit with open arms. Sturgeon’s heartfelt gesture to cheer up his ill son has evolved into a cherished tradition that brings joy to countless families each year.
One standout residential display is located in Highlands Ranch, where a home transforms from spooky haunted house to festive wonderland, featuring a life-sized Chewbacca in a Santa hat and a dazzling array of colorful lights. A hot cocoa stand will be open on Friday and Saturday nights, with proceeds going to local cancer charities.
In Broomfield, experience over 20,000 Christmas lights synchronized to your favorite holiday tunes, creating an enchanting spectacle that captivates audiences of all ages. Families are encouraged to pile into their cars for a stunning ride through vibrant tunnels of lights at Christmas in Color at Red Rocks.
Additionally, the Denver Zoo is once again hosting its magnificent light show, featuring over three million lights spread across eighty acres. This annual event is a must-see for all ages, with tickets available now.
The Denver Botanic Gardens is celebrating forty years of its iconic Blossoms of Light showcase, transforming its gardens into a dazzling display of vibrant illuminations and immersive installations.
Don’t miss the festive scene at Union Station, where a giant glowing Christmas tree and stunning decorations are sure to delight visitors. Although Civic Center Park is undergoing renovations, the City and County Building will remain lit with a spectacular display of colors throughout the season.
