Connecticut Woman Arrested After Pointing Rifle at Teens in Newark
A confrontation in a hotel parking lot in Newark, Delaware, led to the arrest of a 50-year-old woman from Connecticut, who is accused of pointing a rifle at three teenagers. The incident occurred on the evening of December 5, 2023, around 20:00, prompting a swift response from the Delaware State Police.
According to the police report, the teenagers were playing football in the parking lot of the Hilton hotel located at 100 Continental Drive when a woman in a paratransit van allegedly displayed a firearm in their direction. Alarmed by the incident, the teens fled the area. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the confrontation.
Details of the Arrest
Police later located the paratransit van in a nearby parking lot. Officers arrested the driver, identified as Rachel Dinorscia, without incident. A search of the vehicle revealed a long rifle believed to have been used in the incident, in addition to a second rifle and two handguns.
Dinorscia was subsequently transported to Troop 6, where she faced multiple charges, including possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, three counts of aggravated menacing, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. Following her arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 11, she was committed to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a secured bond of $23,500.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The case highlights the serious implications of armed confrontations, particularly in public spaces where minors are present.
