South Euclid Driver Arrested for Drunk Driving After Hit-Skip

UPDATE: A South Euclid man was arrested for drunk driving after a hit-skip incident late on December 3. At approximately 10:30 p.m., police responded to a two-car crash at 5644 Mayfield Road, in front of the Walgreens, where witnesses reported the suspect fleeing the scene.

Police quickly located the suspect’s vehicle, a white Toyota, at 1443 Richmond Road, in front of a CVS/Pharmacy. The driver, a 47-year-old man, exhibited signs of intoxication and was arrested for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) and hit-skip. Notably, he refused to take a breath test, raising further concerns about his actions.

In a separate incident, police are investigating a theft reported at 4:40 p.m. on December 6 at L.L. Bean, located at 25225 Cedar Road. Loss prevention personnel disclosed that a 65-year-old Cleveland man stole merchandise valued at $1,020. No charges have been filed yet as the matter remains under investigation.

On December 1, a woman representing The Makeup Institute at 5678 Mayfield Road reported fraudulent checks were written against her business account. Two checks, for $500 and $431.64, were discovered, prompting an ongoing investigation.

A serious psychiatric situation unfolded on December 2. At 11:45 a.m., a woman alerted emergency services after overhearing a disturbing conversation with her husband involving a firearm. The situation escalated when she whispered a Lyndhurst address before hanging up. Police quickly responded and transported the 51-year-old man to MetroHealth Hospital for evaluation.

Additionally, on December 4, police were called to assist a 56-year-old woman at her home on Kenton Circle. She reported that her husband, 55, was highly intoxicated and out of control as he was scheduled to enter rehabilitation that day. While police offered assistance, he declined a ride to the facility, promising to calm down.

Finally, on December 5, at 5:40 p.m., a manager at Dick’s Sporting Goods on 24545 Cedar Road reported an attempted theft by three juveniles. Police apprehended the boys nearby, who were identified as residents of Cleveland, aged 14 and 16. Fortunately, they were not charged as no items were stolen.
