Henry Cejudo Confirms UFC 323 Fight Will Be His Last
UPDATE: Henry Cejudo, one of the most decorated athletes in combat sports history, has officially announced that his upcoming fight at UFC 323 against Payton Talbott on October 14, 2023, will be his final appearance in the Octagon. Cejudo, 38, confirmed the news during an interview on the “TMZ Sports” TV show, which airs nightly on FS1.
This highly anticipated matchup is set to take place just days from now, raising questions about the legacy of the man known as “Triple C.” Cejudo is not only a two-division UFC champion but also an Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling, making him a unique figure in the sport.
“Saturday’s my last fight,” Cejudo stated confidently. “I’ve been doing this since the age of 11. Do I still have it physically? 100%.” His dedication to the sport is evident, but he expressed a desire to embrace the next chapter of his life. “I’ve been able to learn a lot of new things in life, and I’m just ready for the second chapter, man,” Cejudo added.
As Cejudo prepares for this pivotal moment, he reflects on the emotional aspects of his career. “Not really. To me, it’s just another fight,” he remarked, emphasizing his focus on the task at hand. However, he did acknowledge a sense of gratitude for his coaches and training partners who have supported him throughout his journey.
Looking beyond his fighting career, Cejudo revealed plans to explore new opportunities. “I’m dabbling in real estate, and a bunch of other stuff,” he stated, expressing excitement about life after the UFC. “Obviously, the content with Pound 4 Pound. I’m happy with this decision.”
As fans eagerly await UFC 323, the fight presents both a challenge and a farewell for Cejudo. He will face a height disadvantage of 7 inches against Talbott, raising the stakes for this final showdown.
This fight is set to captivate audiences, not just for its competitive nature, but also for marking the end of an era in mixed martial arts. Cejudo’s storied career has inspired countless fans and aspiring fighters alike. As he walks into the Octagon this Saturday, one thing is certain: the legacy of Henry Cejudo will resonate long after the final bell.
