Erin Lichy Launches Cookbook, Eyes Future on Dancing With the Stars
Erin Lichy, a prominent figure in the latest season of *The Real Housewives of New York City*, has launched her new cookbook titled *She’s a Host: An Unbuttoned Cookbook for Elegant Entertaining*. Released on October 3, 2023, the book showcases her family traditions, featuring recipes and hosting tips that reflect her personal experiences and values.
Lichy, who has gained recognition for her love of cheese boards and Shakshuka, expressed the significance of this project, particularly following the passing of her father. He had appeared in several episodes during Seasons 14 and 15 of the reality series. “The best way to share time together is over a meal,” Lichy stated. “It was really important for me to share these traditions.” She emphasizes that hosting gatherings can be enjoyable and stress-free, despite common perceptions of it being overwhelming.
With the future of *The Real Housewives of New York City* uncertain—having been placed on hiatus earlier this year—Lichy’s new cookbook arrives at a pivotal moment. The show, which previously featured iconic cast members such as Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, and Ramona Singer, has faced criticism from fans nostalgic for the original cast. Lichy believes that the new generation deserves a fair chance, stating, “The comparisons are very challenging because we’re not the same.”
Lichy spoke with Decider earlier this month, sharing insights about her cookbook, her evolving relationships with fellow cast members, and her aspirations to join *Dancing With the Stars*.
Insights on Family Traditions and Hosting Tips
In her conversation, Lichy reflected on the personal nature of her cookbook. She noted, “These recipes are so near and dear to my heart. I just wanted to share them.” The book features her children in photographs and includes stories about family meals and gatherings. “We love community,” she added, highlighting the importance of togetherness, especially after the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The cookbook includes sections titled “Make It Happen,” which provide readers with practical tips for hosting various gatherings. Lichy aims to simplify the hosting experience, offering sample menus and straightforward instructions. “It’s just about making it easy for people,” she explained.
When asked about her favorite recipe in the book, Lichy mentioned the “Divorced Dad Chicken,” describing it as a comforting dish that feeds many and allows for ingredient flexibility. “It just warms my heart,” she said.
Reflections on Reality TV and Future Aspirations
Lichy addressed the mixed reactions to the current iteration of *The Real Housewives of New York City*, noting that it can take time for a show to find its rhythm. “I think that it takes a little while for a show to gel,” she said, emphasizing the need for viewers to appreciate the show as a distinct entity. Speculation surrounds the potential blending of original and new cast members in future seasons, but Lichy maintains faith in Bravo’s casting decisions.
Regarding her fellow castmates, Lichy confirmed that she remains on good terms with Rebecca Minkoff, despite previous tensions. She mentioned, “I will call her because I do care about her.” As for her absent co-star, Brynn, Lichy believes her decision to leave was appropriate.
Lichy has now completed two seasons of reality television, and she addressed misconceptions about the filming process. “People think, a lot of times, that things are produced,” she remarked. “It’s really not produced at all.” She highlighted the authenticity that comes with living one’s life on camera.
As her time on *RHONY* continues, Lichy also expressed her ambitions of participating in *Dancing With the Stars*. “I want to do it,” she declared. When asked about potential dance partners, she playfully suggested Val Chmerkovskiy.
In addition to her cookbook and reality TV career, Lichy is navigating motherhood and community life. She noted the joy of sharing parenting experiences with fellow reality star Lindsay Hubbard, who recently welcomed her first child.
Erin Lichy’s journey from reality star to cookbook author illustrates her dedication to family traditions and community. As she explores new horizons in her career, fans eagerly anticipate what she will achieve next.
